Evaluation Question 3

After Dark is not just your average horro film but a well thought and detailed piece of work from its actor's, Cinematography and Editing all roled into one to make a great watch. After the launch of our film we would like it to be well known to not just your average horror film audiences but also your normal cinema goers as we want them to watch our film as we know they will not be disappointed therefore it would be best if the film has a wide distrbution amongnst well known cinema's and smaller names. I think it would be best to go for a cinema like cineworld to start showing our film as they do not have such history of showing the Horror genre therefore, it would capture people who are interested and keen to watch our type of film.

A distributor that our production company "Creatures Productions" would seek to employ to distribute our film would be Hollywood Pictures (established in 1989) it has played host to some thrillers such as Color of Night, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle i would particularly linked my current film with (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) as it is based on a vengeful nanny and my groups film is about a teacher who eats children therefore they both use a person who is supposed to be caring but abuses their postion this makes me feel good that this film distributor has a connection to my film and can carry its job of acting agent of my film.
What is obvious about this distributor is it credentials of films it has distributed over time and as the various films have such a common ground with my film it is best suited for the job as it will, be able to have good experience's to seek out the best places and indusrties to pitch our film to in order for our film to be fully understood and acknowledged.

To showcase our film on a Global scale it would mean that we would need to place a short clip onto various film related sites in which our distributor can help with their expertese. We could start off with youtube which has become a world wide phenominan as it can easily rack up a lot of views from future audiences and even critics who could give us feedback plus, this is free of charge to upload a video onto the site which is excellent as we have a tight budget and it could also give us ties to other social network sites such as facebook and twitter which would help us reach different types of audiences.

Representation Story

Man 1 and Woman 1 - Intro
In New York City there lived a stuck up, arrogant businessman who strived on the success of his business and pursuing of the female kind. He had a wife, two children and lived the all round perfect family life his wife cooked, cleaned and most of all never moaned about how late her husband would come home after work she simply said "Boys will be boys" but did she say this simply at the fact that she knew her husband was having an affair behind her back with his 20 year old secretary or simply the fact that if she questioned him about his infedelity he would raise his hand and dark bruises would appear around her eye swollen, early on a cold winter's morning.

Man 2 and Woman 2 - Intro
She was born in Chicago not your average Beauty Queen. She had long black hair like coal and had long model type legs. She was married to her long time friend and they had moved away from their home town of Oak Park and travelled to New York where they had money problems. She had bragged herself an interview at a top business firm and that's when she met him. Just for a moment she forgot she was married and edged closer to the 6ft dark haired man who they all called the "Boss".

Woman 1 - Leaving people behind
I have cancer his wife screamed as he left for work that morning. The slam of the door was like her whole world had collapsed did her husband really love her? Or could it be he had found success and she was no longer his high school love and they were no longer the perfect family.

Woman 2 - Should be a Happy Moment
I'm pregnant she said quietly one cold winter's morning to her young handsome husband lying next to her. He grabbed her instantly and whispered to her stomach "It's your Daddy here" she however was none the less overjoyed as the man whispering to her stomach was not the Father of her child.

Woman 2 - Something to Say?
"We need to talk" she said with a lump in her throat to her dark haired "Boss" he pulled her, to one side and said "what do you want" in an almost abrupt voice. Just at that moment her phone rang it was her clueless husband she pressed the call end button. He whispered to her "i have to go" and tried to cover their secret meeting with words of that of buisness and finance. She placed a note, in his pocket while he quickly rushed from her side.

Woman 1 - A Lonely Place
She sat at home looking at herself in the mirror repeating to herself "he must really find you ugly". She went to the wine cabinet in the living room and poured herself a glass and than reclined to the sofa were she flicked through the endless photos of her once precious marriage which had fallen to pieces.

Man 2 - The man of your Dreams
Her husband was at home cooking her a lovely meal with candles and flowers from the local florist. She arrived home late, soaking wet from the pouring rain. He, instantly grabbed her and wrapped her in a warm tender hug she felt pure guilt race through her body and felt a flutter from her stomach she whispered "you know don't you?" she felt an instant kick in response. "Know what her husband whispered" as if not to ruin their tender moment "Nothing" she said in a shaky voice and she went to their room he followed quickly and so she was facing him he pulled her close to his chest and began to softly hum their favourite song to her. Her eyes, instantly filled up with tears and the flutter in her stomach grew more and more intense.

Man 1 - Has he changed?
He arrived home late smelling of alcohol and lipstick on his collar. She knew where he had been but dared to
ask him for she knew she would be a victim of his terrible outbursts. She simply moved away from the sofa she had been on for the past several hours as she could not stand to be near him. However this evening it was different he came closer and closer and pulled her into his chest. Why was he hugging her? he questioned they had never embraced in eachothers arms for a very long time. He tenderly kissed her forehead and went up the stairs she went back to the sofa and lay down clutching a photo of her and her husband on their wedding day.

Woman 2 - Tender Hugs and Painful Mistakes
She woke in the morning with her husbands arm wrapped around her stomach tenderly. She got up and got dressed in her usual fashion on a typical Friday morning she was wondering whether the "Boss" had found her little confession yet and how he would react.

Man 1 - Big Business
He left early in the morning as usual not a goodbye for his wife or sons he got in his car and drove off. He arrived and saw her standing out side his office he tried to avoid her but met her gaze instead she prompted, to his office and they walked inside. Did you get it? she said Get what? he said the fire alarm went off and they were once again interupted they had to go their sepearte ways as she had to go down the collegaue staircase. They met in the carpark but had to remain professional as they could not let anything slip in front of protential costumers all squashed agaisnt the back wall.

Woman 1 - Heartbreak
She sat alone at home as usual she had completed her chores and wallowed in the enormity of their grand house. She picked up his jacket and out fell a Business Card she turned it over and found the words "I'm preganant It's yours! written on the back of it. She felt, her heart sink and her body slowly curled up on the floor as she knew of her husbands many affairs, she knew he no longer loved her, but she never thought it would come to this.

Man 1 - Actions have Consequences
He rushed to the hospital she lay there still on the bed not moving very still he moved towards her and felt her ice cold skin. Noooooo he shouted was he know realising that he had lost his maid his servant or the fact that he had lost his companion and it was to late to get her back. His sons sat still in the corner the youngest crying into the older ones chest saying "this is not happening". But it was and it had happened she had lost alot of blood the rope had pierced her vain the Doctor told him.

Man 2 - A Proud Moment
He rushed to the hospital she lay there he moved around the bed his gazed fixed on her but than, he noticed something in the corner an incubator at her side and in it lay a tiny person wrapped up in what seemed to be thousand's of balnkets. He picked the tiny baby up and placed it close to his chest and whispered "your mummy and daddy love you very much". She lay there as her husband sat on the edge of the bed with their "newborn" as she felt him sit on the bed she got up and walked out with him helplessly staring at the door as it closed.

Man 1 - When death comes knocking
A black hearse pulled up outside the church he stepped out with his sons in tow they proceded up the stairs her coffin elegantly past him and he dropped his head in shame. She walked towards him he pulled her to one side out of view of the many morners. "What are you doing here?" he asked sharply she caught her breath and said "I had your baby last week do you want to see her?".

Man 2 - On the street corner
She returned home with her baby and husband she went to her room and closed the door tightly behind her. A text message came through on her phone he picked it up and read what it said "Ok i want to see my baby but not now in a weeks time when i come back from Barbados". He paused and looked at the tiny baby in the cot next to him he grabbed all the bin bags he could find and item by item he placed her things into them and put them by the door. He held the tiny baby close to his chest and whispered "your not going anywhere but mummy is" he cleared his throat as she came out of the bedroom she paused looked at him, her phone and than to the bin bags at the door. He opened the door and took her by the hand he carefully took her left hand and took of the ring he had so effortlessly placed on her on their wedding day. Than guiding her down the stairs and out the door he chucked the bin bags one after another landing beside her on the pavement. He than tenderly kissed her forehead and said "we could of been so good together" and went back inside with the baby warmly tucked into his chest as she remained behind crying endlessly on the street corner.

The truth will always be revealed no matter how much you try to bury it!!

Interesting Blogs

http://themediablog.typepad.com/
What i found interesting about the first website was that it used a wide variety of search engines and blogging sites combined into one ranging from Blogs, Jounarlism and even Magazines all in one place. Each story had a newspaper type slogan which would help to convince the person viewing the site pick the best story for them. The site also used images and videos to help gain their viewers attention and not bore them with thousands of worded essay style writing. It can even allow people to add it to two of the biggest social networks (Facebook & Twitter). It is also able to link people to other sites such as Metro, BBC, NHS Choices and Channel 4 this is a good factor as many will come to this site and read a story and want to find out where they can find more therefore by this site playing host to others it gives them as well as smaller websites wider coverage.

http://petesmediablog.blogspot.com/
On the other hand the second website which is someone's Blog was very different to the first website as this one is directed at Alevel students. I like his use of footage and images as like the first website it makes it interesting and appealing to those who will be reading it and seeing it as it becomes a whole lot more appealing rather than having just writing. For example his use of good explanationa and annotation on his piece about Film Openings it helps the viewetr to understand what he is saying with the help of a visual guide.

Analysing Sound

The sound in the first clip is used in the first scene when the camera sharply moves towards the characters face the sound is used in order to block the character from what is happening in the scenario. It also creates the sense of authority within the room as the judge is speaking the verdict is read out so in contrast the sound is placed over to build up on the tension. In the second scene when the man slams his hand on the table it is the sound that is heard first before the camera edges towards his face the sound made creates the sense of power.

The sound in the second clip is heartbreaking and emotional as it is about a character coming to terms with the fact that her mother has never cared for her and that the man who took her in is in love with hertherefore the sound used in this is fitiing as it creates the mood of sadness and egarness as we wait to see what the character's response is to the other.

The sound in the third clip is lacking as the audience here pratically no sound used to empahsise anything happening in the scene this however can create the sense of tense emotion as sound can create all types of feeling and flow with the situation whereas if there is a lack of it it creates the feeling of something lacking something or maybe just to create unecessary tension.

The sound used in the fourth clip is fitting with the action happening in the scene as it creates the sense of fastness and high speed. It can be hard to find the right sounds to fit an upbeat tempo or fast paced action. The sound used was good as it also allowed the audience to keep up with what was going on as the music got faster.

The sound used in the fifth clip was heartbreaking because the action taking place in the clip was of a woman being torn from her child by the police and social services the sound added to the pulling of heart strings as it creates emotional feeling as it is afterall a sad situation being played out. The music often played when something sad happens is a quite and slow sound as it wants to get the audience to feel how the character is feeling place themselves in their shoes.

Feedback On The Rough Cut Of Our Film

The commments that were made by our peers were very positive but contructive as it allowed us to concentrate on minor things that were needed to be made in order for our film to be taken seriously and get the point across of what it is about. It was a good experience as it allowed us to get a taster of what other viewers who will see our film react and respond to it.

One of the good commnents made about the film was that our Music choice added a nice difference as it was not your typical ery music related to Horror Films this was our main concern as we thought it would not be accepted as it was different to what was expected however our peers found it to be out of the norm and like it alot. Another comment that was good was that our transitions that we used to create the affect of being chased was very good and well used as what we wanted to create was seen by the audience.

However our peers commented on the fact that we needed to focus more on Mise-En-Scene and and that we needed to add some titles but make sure that they could be seen and in the correct place as for using Mise-En-Scene we will be focusing closely on the use of colour as we have a lot in our film and need to make sure it stands out through each scene in the Film.

British Film Review - Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1

The last harry potter film is finally out (well the first part atleast) it was released on the 19 of November 2010 and Part 2 being released on the 15 of July 2011. With the last Harry Potter Movie (The Half Blood Prince) released on the 15 July 2009  the last enstallment of the phenomenom has been highly anticipated by the Fanatic Fans and waiting audiences.

Harry Potter is a Film that the British people have come to love as most films bore and the sequels are very long that many would be on the verge of walking out of the cinema however Harry Potter has mangaed to grab the attention of thousand. The last enstallment has been long awaited and goes through the last adventure of Harry and his two friends Harmonie Granger and Ron Weasely.

I have to say, as the film is no longer set in Hogwarts (The Wizarding and Witch Magic School) it can take a while to get used to as it takes a few seconds into the film to grasp the concept. However the quality of action and drama is still of a high standard as we see the return of Harry's arch enemy Voldermort return at his most darkest being yet Part 1 looks back at Harry's fatal killing of his mother and father as he returns to where he once lived with them when as a baby the first Part focuses more on the three young wizard and their quest to find the remaining horcruxses.

Bristish Films have evolved from a traditional fairytale love story to something magical and action packed Harry Potter has turned a different leaf on what a British Film can really be, good acting, depth and lots of action.
