Websites

http://www.britfilms.com/: their purpose is to give short film makers to debue their efforts and pieces of work at various festivals they also over access to UK films through the british film council. Information provided by the company are a directory of international film and video festivals listing countries and places the festivals are being held, information on the cannes film festival, trainig and courses, news and events various things happening in the film spotlight/industry.

The target audience for this specific website would be those who are keen festival goers seeking to find the best events, those thinking about making a short film, those thinking about going into the film industry.

Two interesting things i found while looking at this site was that you are able to get an exclusive on many short films going through the process of being made and also that they can direct you to other sites enabling you to seek various jobs in the industry.

British Film Institute: the purpose of the intitute is to provided information about films, festivals and whats on in cinema. the information that is provided by the institute is centred around educating many about the world of film as they have various information on how films came about, how they were made and how to get research on them.

The target audience base for this site would be those who are interested in the knowledge and history of film from when it started to how it is presented in the modern day.

Two interesting things i found out about the BFI were that they hold an annual festival allowing smaller film companys and short films to be realeased on a world wide basis so it enables them to get full exposure of their work and also it plays host to educational events that allow young people to come and explore the world of film and what it has to offer.

http://www.netribution.co.uk/: is almost like a blogging site which allows people to place contributions about all things Film it also allows people to have their own profiles and make a positive contribution about various Flms etc.

The target audience that this site would play host to would be those who are looking to share and note things to do with films and the industry.

Two interesting things i found out about the site was that you are able to create your own blog and contribute to what the site call a community where people place comments about Films etc. also they have various interviews with several people in the industry including Directors.

http://www.ukfilmcouncil.org.uk/: the UK film council are a company that make sure that fairness is brought to all films shown abroad and in the UK all regarding they have a cultural, educational and economic aspect. They also want to make sure that the best of British Films are shown with a clear stratergy.

The information provided consists of who they fund (, research, distributon of Films and Films in general. A target audience of this site would be those who are interested in the back work of film and how films can be fairly distributed abroad and also those who are looking to be funded for their own film.

Two interesting things i found out about the council where that they fund short films, cinemas, educational film and many more also they strive to give the opportunity to non mainstream films available to audiences and support the UK exports of Films abroad.

Feed Back Of Our Animatic

The feedback that we recieved back about our animatic was good and constructive as it enabled us to look at what we had storyboarded in a beneficial way. The comments that were made about our Animatic were that sometimes it became hard to follow through with what the opening to the film was about therefore we came up with the solution of adding one or two more shots so that it will be more understandble to our audience, another comment made was that we should not have had our title of the film placed at the start straight away as it follows a very traditional method used in films so we have now decided to have a shot of a scene at the start and than gradually have the title of the film in the middle. One more comment about our Animatic that was raised was that one of the sounds we used didnt quite go with the shot displayed therefore we are in the process of finding a contempory sound that fits however those looking at our Animatic did say that they knew from the other sounds placed in our Animatic did fit nicely with what the scene/shot was portraying.

Time Line

The timeline from the film Sev7en showed a different angle to (normal) opening credits as most would start with the title (a common thing to start with) this sequence did not as in the first few seconds the production company name was shown (newline cinema production company)  followed by who the film was by (A film by David Fincher) and the actors in it (Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow).

Half way through about 23 seconds into the sequence the title of the film was shown (Sev7en) this gives the film an edge of origniality and uniquness as it didnt follow tradition which is a good way fo grabbing the audience from the start.

The title sequence also had different writing styles as the words appeared they where in a unsual style of font and was positioned in various ways the use of shaking the words as they appeared on and than off the screen caused the sense of disturbance which adds to the difference of the opening.

Prelium Task

Our Prelium task was to made up of several components all based around a story and setting what myself and group members came up with was a unusual child/teacher relationship.

We set it in a classroom however this came with its problems as we had to use one or two class rooms to shoot in due to the fact that we where filming n school tiem so this made it slightly difficult to remember what shot we had done in the previous room and what shot we should continue from in the next.

We also worked to a time schedule and had to make sure our films where in the editing process at an exact time creating us time consuming problems as we had to make sure we stuck to the task aswell as making sure we had everything in on time.

Once we had finished filming we than went onto edidting this was alot of fun for me and my partner however it did coemwith more issues as we had to make sure we where cutting and adding the right content we wanted and it was even more trickier as we had to learn how to make our short clip run smoothly instead of jumping uneasiely from one clip to another this meant that we had to look into finer detail of what we were doing.

When we had finished edidting it was time to look at our short clip and try and scan through what looked good and what didnt quite work luckily we had added transitions that helped sort out our jumping from clip to clip problem but our main issue was how to make the ending of the clip not look rushed and rough therefore we played around with further transisitons and used "Fade to Black" which effortlessly made the film look more efficient as it didnt end so abrut.

The camera work displayed through the clip was good but sometimes it was difficult to work out what shot was being used therefore this made us think about for future reference that we should plan and take care of what shots we would be using.

Feedback of our Prezi for our film: Late Night Bite

The feed back we were giving by our peers in regards of our Prezi (presentation) for our opening to our horror film was to refine our opening and try not to stray away from what we are actually doing also as our film is for younger viewers we need to make sure it is suitable. Other points that were raised was that as we have a good storyline we need to make sure it does not fall through due to our camerawork therefore we must make time and preparation to make our camerawork affective. We also need to focus on our sounds and characters as in our opening we have a class of school children so we need to make sure we able to use groups of children in order to fulfill that scene. We were also told that we need to make sure that our opening does not give away the whole film and does not look like a contempory trailer to a movie.

Plan of our Film: Late Night Bite

http://prezi.com/zcex3bgdy7ei/film-late-night-bite/

Title Sequences

http://www.artofthetitle.com/media/film/70s/halloween_480p.html?keepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&height=414&width=874

This specific title sequence from the film Haloween really draws the audience into what they are going to watch. The director has creatively used sound to draw the audience in as by the use of the "creepy music" in the background it already has the audience hanging of their seats. The effect of the jackolaten coming closer and closer as the music becomes louder and louder also catches the attention of the audience as well as it being a sugnificant figure of the event Haloween itself. Towards the end of the title sequence their is voices of young children chanting this grabs the attention of the audience and drags them into it even further as the fact of young children being involved becomes fairly disturbing to many as it focuses on the innocence.

http://www.artofthetitle.com/media/film/2002/blade2.html?keepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&height=510&width=882

The title sequence starts of fairly unique as it is narrated however the narrator does not sound like your average friendly guy from "Come Dine With Me". Its your average action film with a twist the main charater is across from Human and Vampire. The director was able to build what was to happen in the film by the begining being narrated which adds a personal touch to the film.

http://www.artofthetitle.com/2008/10/10/morrison-on-morrison/

The director has used ery music tied in with clasiical to create an authentic horror affect the use of the authentic blood tells the audience what is most likely to happen without giving the whole story line away. The use of the sewers and rats and the fire in the bakery in the background while the names of the actors are shown sets the scene for the audience as it roughly tells them its set in the streets if London.

Film Plot

Plot of film: Set in a school where children exceed due to their talents and strive for success however there is one thing standing in their way the "monster teacher". The film is based around a fifteen year old who strives to reach the top of his monster teachers "food chain" otherwise he faces the risk of becoming "DINNER".

It becomes a race agaisnt time and peers as the teenager is placed up agaisnt his peer in several challenges at the end of which one will become their techers late night "SNACK"!!

By using techniques and editing skills we will be able to produce a high quality piece to do this we will include sounds, mise-en-scene, editing, camera work to build up the quality of the film the use of sound will grip our audience we will use sounds such as screams, non-diegetic and diegetic sounds, mise-en-scene will capture what is in the frame and anything going on in the background this will help us also set out our establishing shot, our camera work will enable us to focus on  our characters and on the scene in which they are once all this is put together editing will take place this is where will focus on fixing and sorting out scenes we find long or no longer thrilling for the genre of what we are doing.

Conventions of a Horror Film

Conventions of a Horror Film:

Lighting
Sounds/Music
Characters
Blood
Screaming

each of these play a key role in the making of a horror film as each are used to keep the audience entertained and most importantly gripped to the edge of their seats!!

Lighting: (Sweeney Todd's Barber Shop)
This shot emphasies on the use of lighting to create the scene in this particular scene the audience see sweeney todd in his barber shop holding above his victim the light contrast with the outside lighting to the lighting in the barber shop empahsise on the dark going on's about to take place!

ImageShack, free image hosting, free video hosting, image hosting, video hosting, photo image hosting site, video hosting site

Sounds: (sound taken from the movie Psyhco)
the sound/music in movies is key as it enables the audience to take notice of what is happening and keep them gripped to the edge of their seats.

Characters: (the photo is taken of the psycho killer in the movie Halloween and Halloween 2)
The characters play the biggest role of any movie let alone a horror movie as there has to be a gruesome killer that the audience are waiting to be scared by.

Blood (all horror films always tend to have grusome death scenes ending with blood splattering all over the place)

Screaming - (all horror films have many screaming victims as it builds to the intensity)

Evaluation Question 4

Name: Jasmine Fellows
Gender: Female
Favourite Films: Sweeney Todd, Batman: Dark Knight, Harry Potter (Goblet of Fire), Twilight Saga, E.T, Alice in Wonderland 3D
Favourite TV Shows: Ugly Betty, True Blood, Doctor Who, Vampire Diaries
What They Do on Weekends: Spending time with her friends and Boyfriend, Gym, Parties
Mode of Transport: Mini Cooper
 Favourite Drink: 7UP
  Breakfast Cereal: Sugar Puffs
 Holiday Destination: Barbados
 Favourite Vegetable: Carrots
Ideal Partner: Robert Pattinson

This is jasmine fellows. she is 16 years old and lives in London. She is a neat precise young girl and she loves to watch a good horror film with her boyfriend. she regularly goes to the cinema with her friends   to check out a good horror film. I feel that jasmine would be our type of specific  because it relates to her choice of movies and TV drama that she likes such as; vampire diaries and true blood. This suggests to me that she likes this particular type of genre therefore, Our movie "After Dark" would appeal to her as she would love our story line as it follows a teen base crowd as it is set in a school also it uses friendship as a back drop to the storyline which she would like and relate to as she likes to spend time with her own friends. to what their required taste is such as they like to go to the cinema regularly which means, they are keen movie fans.

Our particular film is on a basis of what Jasmine likes as she watches other films and TV shows with supernatural characters and your normal average characters for example she likes the Twilight Saga's which suggest she likes films that have a modern setting but have a drastic twist therefore our film would appeal to her on a wide scale as we contrast two normal school children in a school who are than subject of being eaten by a monster who is supposedly their teacher therefore that is the twist that i think would grab our model audience.

Unfortunately the film does not have a leading man such as the gorgeous Robert Pattinson however our movie does allow our model audience to relate with our lead character. As she is almost in her own world and is left to think over what consequences her actions will hold and i feel this would appeal to our model audience as they like someone to relate to and therefore, they could relate to the fact of being an outsider maybe for most of the time or just for a split second in away looking at things in a different perspective.
